Albuquerque Public Schools
The Aztec Special Education and Autism Center serves as the District Intensive Support, Diagnostic, and Evaluation Center for Special Needs for Albuquerque Public Schools. TCI constructed a two-story building with an autism wing, a homebound wing, nursing clinic and diagnostics wing, OTPT and sensory rooms, functional skills labs, a multi-purpose room with volleyball and basketball courts, a kitchen and cafeteria area, and offices for staff and teachers specializing in hearing impairment.
Project sitework improvements included roadway and parking lot construction, trash enclosure, and a large retention pond.
The project was designed to meet a LEED Gold standard. Sustainable project features include a 136kW solar PV array, low VOC materials, extensive natural lighting, energy efficient mechanical, electrical systems and building envelop, and low-flow fixtures.
