Albuquerque Public Schools
The Coyote Willow Family School (CWFS), Phase 2 project was a new construction and addition project – adding a wing of classrooms and teacher workrooms to the existing school’s campus.
The 13,061-square foot addition consisted of seven new classrooms, four teacher workrooms, a stepped-lecture hall, one community collaboration room, two gang restrooms, a food-serving room, two adult restrooms, a counselor space, five utility rooms, and various exterior improvements. The addition seamlessly connected to the existing classroom building, despite technically-challenging system tie-ins – such as the ground-source water heat pump system, fire sprinkler system, and dual building exterior finishes.
The CWFS project was managed across an aggressive 238-day schedule and completed eight days ahead of schedule – an achievement considering local reductions in force and nationwide manufacturer closures in the early weeks of the COVID-19 spread.
The CWFS project was designed by The Hartman + Majewski Design Group, managed by general contractor Thompson Construction, and constructed by 18 local subcontractors – representing a team of over 120 tradesmen and women.
